Situated just north of Cairns and Port Douglas, the Daintree River region boasts some of the most spectacular Wet Tropics rainforest accessible to visitors in the world. Here you will find the last vestiges of the ancient rainforest of Gondwanaland, where primitive animals and an indigenous culture still thrive.

Travelling north through sugarcane farmlands we commence our scenic coastal drive along the Captain Cook Highway, one of the world's most beautiful coastal routes, aside the Coral Sea and flanked by rainforested mountains with glorious views of offshore islands. We arrive at Daintree for morning tea before relaxing on a one-hour cruise on the mighty Daintree River. With the assistance of an experienced river guide you will see the special wildlife of the Daintree River, the domain of the estuarine crocodile and also living amongst the mangrove and rainforest lined river banks are tree snakes, pythons, a large variety of land and waterbirds and butterflies, so be sure to have your camera ready.
