Passions of Paradise, the funkiest cat on the reef, is a brand new, custom-built 25 metre maxi cat with awesome sailing capabilities, and the only vessel that travels to both the Outer Barrier Reef and the Inner Barrier Reef. This ambiant motor-sailing catamaran provides guests with plenty of room to lay out a towel and bask in the tropical sunshine.

What makes it great?

You will snorkel over brilliant staghorn corals, huge plate corals of many different colours, and anemones that sway with the oceans currents. Within 5 metres snorkelling distance of the boat you can spot little clown fish (Nemo!) living within these anemones. After all the swimming and diving a huge tropical smorgasbord lunch is served. There's also plenty of time to relax. The water is warm around Upolu Cay, your second stop, and there are many different species of marine life that inhabit these waters. It is quite often what postcards are made of - Beautiful, turquoise water and golden white sand, your own little piece of paradise. On the way home relax, chill out, and soak up the atmosphere as you sail on into Cairns. Passions of Paradise arrives back into Cairns at around 5:00pm.

Quicksilver takes you to Agincourt Reef, a magnificent ribbon reef where you can snorkel, dive or stay dry and explore the stunning reef from the comfort of a Quicksilver semi-sub. Download Brochure

Watch the fish feeding from Quicksilver's unique underwater viewing platform and underwater observatory, or fly in a helicopter over the reef.

The Platform at Agincourt Reef Site:

Floating like an island in a coral sea the platforms have tables for you to enjoy lunch, undercover seating, fresh water showers and change rooms to allow you to enjoy your day. There is also a water powered lift to allow easy access for all passengers.

Semi Submersible Coral Viewing: Semi Submersible and Underwater Observatory

If you would like to stay dry, then you can explore the stunning reef from the comfort of a Quicksilver sub. The semi submersibles cruise slowly through the colourful coral gardens giving passengers the opportunity to experience a snorkellers-eye view of the marine life without getting wet. The semi-sub experience takes approximately 20 minutes and includes an informed commentary on the marine life observed during the journey and an overview of the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. Semi-subs depart every twenty minutes from the rear of the platform. Announcements are made to prompt you before departure.

Underwater Observatory:

You can also see the coral and watch the fish feeding from Quicksilver's unique viewing platform and underwater observatory located directly in front of the platform. From here, you can also view "first time" divers taking part in introductory dives and snorkellers.

Snorkelling:

Snorkelling is one of the best ways to view the incredible underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef, and Quicksilver's friendly staff are on hand to show you how. On your way out to Agincourt Reef you can view an instructional video on how to snorkel to teach you the right techniques.

Upon reaching the outer reef, you can obtain your snorkelling equipment from the storage containers on the platform. Lycra stinger suits are also available to hire. Fish feeding takes place from the platform so you can view the marine life up close.

If you would like to learn a little more about the Great Barrier Reef whilst snorkelling, you may like to try one of the optional Snorkelling Expeditions with a qualified Marine Biologist. This is at an additional cost.

Big Cat Green Island…

From its home base in Cairns, Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises operates half and full day reef cruises to famous Green Island, an idyllic coral cay on Australia's Great Barrier Reef. Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises is owned and managed by experienced cruise operators, the Wallace family. Since 1979 the Wallace's have been perfecting the art of day touring on the Great Barrier Reef when they launched the renowned Quicksilver cruises Reef Rocket (left) and-Big Catfrom Port Douglas. In 1990 the Wallace family purchased Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises and for 14 years have applied their winning formula of friendly and helpful service. In 2001 and 2004 the company was recognised in the Tropical North Queensland Tourism Awards as Best Major Tour and Transport Operator. "Reef Rocket" is a state of the art 24 metre vessel with a capacity for 120 passengers and operates two half day cruises from Cairns as well as a daily service directly from Palm Cove Jetty to Green Island. "Big Cat" is a modern 30 metre vessel with a capacity for 300 passengers and operates the full day cruise daily from Cairns. Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises specialises in discovering the Great Barrier Reef. Visitors are encouraged to view the wonderful underwater world of marine life and corals by participating in snorkelling, glass bottom boat or semi-submarine tours. The company also has a professional diving operator, "Scuba Green Island" on board the vessels offering passengers certified and introductory diving, helmet diving and supervised snorkelling trips to the outer edge of Green Island Reef.

Part of a protected Marine Park, Green Island is a beautiful coral cay that is readily identified from the air by its emerald rainforest surrounded by white sandy beaches and beautiful coral reefs.

A coral cay is a build up of rubble and sediments from thousands of years of wave action surrounding the reefs. Seeds and spores carried by the wind and birds have fertilised the island and enabled the growth of plant life.

Discover the fascinating underwater world among the coral reefs surrounding Green Island where you will see an endless variety of colourful fish, turtles, giant clams, starfish, shells, anemones, eels, sponges, sea urchins and many more incredible marine creatures
